Laurel Street School and Family Center is the oldest licensed preschool in Routt County,
Colorado with more than 40 years of service.  It was run as a private business in its current location until January 2001, when it became an IRS certified 501 ( c )3 non profit
enterprise.  Its mission is to offer the highest quality of early childhood experience to our 
children of Routt County in an environment that encourages the growth of the whole 
child.   We strongly encourage parent participation in our program.

At Laurel Street we believe….

  • Independence and self help skills are important in the development of a child.
  • In preparing children not only for school but also for life.
  • In the process not the product.  In other words, children have a chance to be really creative with the materials.

Our staff is dedicated to helping your child build a solid foundation of social, emotional and academic skills that allow each child to reach his or her full potential.  We are licensed to supervise children age 2 1/2 and up.

Our school-year programs include opportunities for field trips to the local ice rink and ski mountain in winter and to our favorite creeks, rivers, hills, parks, and playgrounds in warmer months.  Our summer camp program includes field trips to the hot springs, mountain base, environmental classes and much more.

  • We offer the flexibility of enrollment from two to five days a week.
  • We offer half-day and full-day enrollment.
  • Financial assistance may be available.

We currently have a few openings in our preschool and pre-kindergarten classrooms.
